Way back in 2002 Silicon Beats began life as 'Breakbeats Only'. Back then we focused solely on break beats because we believed that's what music producers wanted. We soon learned that our users needed more than just spectacular Break beats.
People loved the sounds that we had captured and our unique production style set us apart from the competition. We soon began receiving requests for more different genres. People wanted to hear lots of fills and beat variations as well as a different range of drum sounds and live room sounds.
We took up the challenge and started travelling the UK on a quest to find the best drummers we could find. Sometimes we'd find ourselves in the most obscure recording locations, from old piano warehouses to the giant basement of a Victorian mansion, from old textile Mills to plush new penthouse apartments, we've seen it all and recorded even more.
Technology allowed us to take our recording equipment on the road. We used this experience to hone our craft, learn from what worked and what failed. We now use our hard earned knowledge to perfect our recording process in our own studio in the rainforests of BC, Western Canada.
We now have 3 live rooms for recording drums which offer countless configurations for unique ambience. Our experience has taught us many ways to achieve the sound that the session demands. From huge rock drums to super tight funk with zero room ambience, we can exploit all of the options at our disposal.
